The Ashanti regional chairman for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Bosiako, widely known as Chairman Wontumi has questioned the recent judgement of the Office of the Special Prosecutor(OSP), Kissi Agyebeng regarding the airbus scandal.
According to the regional chairman, the special prosecutor may not be best suited to exonerate former president, John Dramani Mahama due to the International nature of the matter.
The office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has declared Mr. Mahama not guilty of the airbus procurement scandal.
At a press conference in Accra on last Thursday, he said there is no evidence to suggest that Mahama was embroiled in bribery and corruption pertaining to the airbus.
Speaking on Wontumi Morning Show, on 12th August, 2024, Chairman Wontumi stressed on the need for the case to be addressed and adjudicated at the intentional level.
“I can say Kissi Agyebeng is apologizing for his actions. He is sorry for his judgement. How can you vindicate Mahama when the incident happened abroad and not in Ghana?
It occurred in six nations which are UK, France, United States of America, Malaysia and others so it will be of interest if the judgement comes from them” he said.
