Content creator Eunice Akoto Attakora-Manu has shared on her Asetena Pa show a dramatic story of marital strain that’s sparked plenty of online conversation.
The case involved an unnamed woman who, feeling insecure about her marriage, made a controversial choice that would have life-altering consequences for her relationship.
According to Akoto Mansa, the woman confessed to misappropriating $8,000—money her husband intended to invest in their family business—to fly to Dubai for a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) in an attempt to win back his affection.
When Akoto Mansa revealed the story, she noted that the woman had reached out seeking advice on whether the backlash she was receiving was justified. According to Akoto, the woman wondered aloud, “Is everyone right to treat me this way? Am I wrong for doing what I did?”
The woman, who wished to remain anonymous, explained that her marriage had grown rocky following her husband’s recent success. The financial stability he brought into their lives was a welcome relief for her, especially since she had been struggling when they first met. But with the late nights and increased business trips came creeping doubts—she grew suspicious of his fidelity. She eventually confronted him, only to confirm her worst fears: he had been interacting with multiple women.
The hurt deepened when she saw photos of these women, each one curvy and attractive, flaunting figures that seemed to be everything she was not. Feeling desperate to compete with these other women and “salvage” her marriage, she hatched a risky plan. Her decision, in hindsight, seemed rash but was driven by the desire to reclaim the attention of the man she loved. “I thought if I could just be what he seemed drawn to, things would go back to how they used to be,” she reportedly told Akoto.
The woman told her husband that she needed to visit her sister, who had just given birth. With this fabricated story, she managed to access the $8,000 earmarked for critical equipment needed to expand their small but growing factory. The funds disappeared from their business account, and she boarded a plane to Dubai.
She returned home with a brand-new look, a curvier figure she hoped would revive her marriage. But rather than the warm reception she anticipated, her husband was irate. He had noticed the missing funds and, upon realizing what she had done, saw it as a betrayal of trust. He informed her that he intended to file for divorce, explaining that her actions had put their business plans at risk. “That money was meant for our factory,” he reportedly told her in anger. “We needed that equipment.”
For many online, the story resonated on several levels, touching on themes of insecurity, desperation, and the lengths people sometimes go to in relationships.
Some commentators sympathized with her, arguing that her husband’s infidelity and the obsession with a particular body type had pushed her to extreme measures. “It’s sad that she felt she had to change herself to hold onto a man,” one commentator noted. Others, however, sided with her husband, pointing out that taking the business funds crossed a line and that trust, once broken, is difficult to repair.
