Dormaa Central Municipal Assembly failed to elect a presiding member for the second time

The Dormaa Central Municipal Assembly in the Bono Region Went to an Assembly Meeting Yesterday February 22, 2024, to elect a presiding member who according to the Local Government Act shall preside over assembly meetings and other business of the Assembly.

During the voting processes, the Incumbent Presiding Member, Hon. Nicholas Ntow had 27 votes in the first round whiles his contender Hon. Atta Twum also obtained 16 votes with 2 rejected. In round two of the voting, Hon Nicholas Ntow had 27 votes with his contender, Hon. Atta Twum gunning 18 votes.

Speaking to Hon. Nicholas Ntow, the outgoing presiding member after the elections, he cheerfully welcomed the outcome of the elections denoting that he has served as a presiding member for the past seven years with unity and enthusiasm to develop the Dormaa Central Assembly and the surrounding communities.

He therefore pleaded with the assembly members to make sure they vote to select a presiding member in their next meeting to ensure the smooth running of the Assembly.

He added that he has contributed a lot in facilitating the development of Dormaa Ahenkro and it’s environs stressing that has been supporting the assembly with his machines in the construction of some roads and other physical projects.

He noted that he worked for the improvement of the municipality out of passion and love for Dormaa Ahenkro and not for making money.

Finally, Hon. Eric Yeboah Kyeremeh, Assembly Member for Asunsu Electoral Area who doubles as the Dormaa Central communications Officer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) stressed that the outcome of the elections demonstrates the practice of democracy hence each and every one is entitled to their opinion adding that there are other opportunities for different contestants hence he is hoping that subsequently the assembly will decide and amicably elect a presiding the steer the affairs of the assembly.
