Decentralisation should be a practical democracy, not partisan – Addai Agyekum

 

The district Chief Executive for Sekyere Kumawu, Samuel Addai Agyekum has opined that decentralisation should be the practicality of democracy.

According to him, people can best exercise their democratic power under local governance when they are non partisans.

Speaking in an interview on Abusua fm, on 19th February, 2024, he stressed that unit committee, assembly members, and DCEs are representatives of the constituency and should not work in contradiction to the constituency’s goals.

“Representatives consult their respective Constituencies and support their evidences with claims before they make any decisions ” he said.

He However stated that partisan politics is meddling in the efficiency of work in the local government.
