Leader of the Movement for Change, Alan Kyerematen has disclosed that in 1996, he had plans to contest against John Agyekum Kufour for flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party(NPP).
However, he was begged to rescind his decision to contest against John Agyekum Kufour and other leading candidates in the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Alan Kyerematen was speaking on Ezra Radio when he made this known.
“I was going to contest against Kufour and others, but when they realized that Alan Kyerematen could win the contest they sent people to me to rescind my decision of contesting. Appiah Menka wrote in his book that the only person who could have beaten Kufour was Alan Kyerematen. I wouldn’t say I could have contested him and all.
Even in 1996, when I was going to be selected as the candidate from the young executive forum, they came to my feet to plead with me not to contest. So how come Kufour is coming to talk about Bawumia now? Where does he know Bawumia from?”
Alan Kyerematen left the New Patriotic Party in 2024 after he failed to make an impact in the NPP’s primaries.
